Have you ever known that couple who goes together so well that they're like peanut butter and jelly, sweatshirts and yoga pants, popcorn and a great movie? Millie and Eric are the most adorable sweethearts - from the way that they look at each other, to how they hold hands - fingers linked tightly as they walk in stride, one never walking in front of the other. They are the essence of compatibility.
Lots of great things begin online nowadays, and Millie met Eric on Match.com - where they soon found out that they had lots of things in common: a love for good music(Eric owns a recording studio here in town), animals(Millie volunteers for Rescue One) and cozy, quiet moments now shared with their lovable dachshund, Lily. It all started with a casual first date at Patton Alley Pub, where Millie and Eric hit it off immediately!
Eric proposed to Millie on her birthday during a trip to the St. Louis Botanical Gardens. While their visit was during the Chinese Lantern Festival, on the night that they went, all of the lanterns were unlit because of another event. Eric made the best of it, and found the one lantern that was burning! He popped the question under the light of that solitary lantern, she said yes, and the rest is history!
I had lots of fun shooting their engagement session! I really enjoy getting to know a couple, and finding out what their interests are before we shoot e-sessions. As a lifestyle photographer, my main goal is to reflect my couples' common interests and passions. Locations and personal style mean a lot - it shouldn't just be a pretty park or an area with great light. That's why I was so happy when Millie and Eric wanted to shoot some of their photos in Eric's studio and also include Lily in their portraits. I knew there would be lots of meaning behind the moments.
Millie and Eric are planning a beautiful ceremony at the Botanical Gardens here in Springfield next September, and I can't wait to capture the story of their wedding day. It's so awesome to work with couples who allow their creativity and personality to truly shine!
*Special thanks to Stick It in Your Ear and Hotel V for allowing us to shoot on their property!
