When Caitlyn told me she wanted to do her senior session on Historic C-Street, I was ecstatic. Not only is C-Street my home away from home, but I was really excited to do a shoot with more of an urban feel, and Caitlyn was speaking my language. We took our time walking to some favorite spots on C-Street - from the footbridge to all of the beautiful landscaping and architecture that make our district so special.
And wow! This Kickapoo senior is one of the sweetest young ladies I have ever met. She immediately won my heart by bringing me coffee. Yes. Not that I expected coffee, but that caramel macchiato was just the perk I needed to power through a triple-header weekend with photography. She and her mom, Cheri, were so much fun to work with. I love it when moms come along to senior sessions, because they are a huge help with outfit changes and making the teens feel more comfortable.
We acted a little goofy (I may have pulled out my dolphin impression to get her to laugh) and chatted about tennis, school, prom dresses, and her dog, Charlie Brown.
When we ended our session at the tennis courts near the Art Museum, the sun was glowing in the sky, giving us the most dreamy backlight around Caitlyn's gorgeous copper hair. We got a little dramatic and intense at the end - and I told Caitlyn to channel her inner fierce tennis champion. She brought it big time!
The thing that I enjoy most about working with seniors is how creative you can get with helping them to express their personality through photography. Caitlyn has personality plus, and you can bet this smart, sassy, and kind-hearted girl is going to go far.
Best of luck for your senior year, Caitlyn!
