Meg and Michael live in Philadelphia, and when they decided to host a small and intimate wedding with their immediate family in Meg's hometown of Kansas City, they also wanted to celebrate their mutual love of urban aesthetics with their portraiture. Meg and Michael are both such creative and free-spirited souls, and we had a great time collaborating during their day.
To have three whole hours of portrait time with a couple on their wedding day is such a luxury - and incredibly rare. Most wedding days go by in a rush, and even though we can definitely make awesome portraits happen even if we only have 15 minutes alone with a couple, having this much time to go to different locations and get to know one another thrills my artist's heart.
We hit many of KC's most iconic locations - from snowy Loose park, to the West Bottoms, and even managed a stop at River Market for Meg's favorite beignets. Every bride deserves beignets on her wedding day!
We met up with Meg and Michael's family for portraits before the casual ceremony at Pilgrim Chapel. It was a heartfelt and simple ceremony, with prayerful and loving thoughts emanating from every person in the room.
After the ceremony, we lingered to play with light a bit and create some unique portraiture. Meg even practiced some of her cheerleading moves inside the chapel. These two were so free-spirited and relaxed during every moment of the day. It was an absolute joy to work with Meg and Michael, and I will never forget the experience.
