When Wade met Shelby a few years ago while they were both coaching softball at summer camp, one of the first things he noticed about her was her natural beauty and spirit for the game. As they got to know one another, a sweet love story began to blossom between the boy from the South side of Chicago and the happy-go-lucky girl from Ozark, MO. They both had a love for teaching and athletics, and a shared appreciation for nature and the outdoors. Summer camp became a much longed-for event as they started what was at first a friendship, then a long-distance relationship, and soon became so much more.
When Wade proposed by a waterfall last year at camp, giving Shelby her beautiful ring in a handcrafted wooden box he had made himself, she couldn't say no.
This is truly a perfect match. As I have gotten to know Shelby and Wade over the past few months, their warm hearts, giving and gracious spirits and thoughtfulness for others has an effect on everyone around them. At their wedding rehearsal last night at Shelby's home church - after storms had drenched Springfield for days and the forecast still wasn't looking perfect for her wedding day - Shelby remained all smiles and stress-free and made everyone around her smile, too. When you know you're marrying the love of your life, nothing the forecast says can take away from your joy.
Can't wait to celebrate with you both today, Wade and Shelby!
