TAYLOR + ANDY // ENGAGEMENT SESSION at JOHNSON'S SHUT-INS STATE PARK

A sense of adventure and love of Missouri topography led Andy and Taylor to choose Johnson's Shut-Ins for their engagement session. The geology and rugged beauty of the park is really something spectacular to see, and was the perfect backdrop for these nature-lovers.

These two care for one another so much. I can tell when couples are deeply connected when they melt into one another the way that Taylor and Andy do. I barely had to direct them. All I had to say was "Love on each other" and they were happy to do so.

At the end of our session, we climbed up a steep hill pass, hoping to get an amazing view of the surrounding wilderness at sunset. Instead, we just found more trees! Instead of being disappointed, Taylor and Andy soaked up the last rays of the sun and basked in their affection for one another - which is much better than any stunning vista.

Taylor and Andy have faced a few challenges and some emotional waves in the past few weeks, but their strength and support for one another shine through. Taylor says, "He's my oak tree. Strong, stable and always grounds me. Out of all the stress of wedding planning, the most steady and solid thing is the peace I have in marrying him."   .

KRISTIN + MONA // SUNNY and JOYFUL WEDDING at SASSAFRAS SPRINGS // SPRINGDALE AR

On a perfectly beautiful day filled with yellow sunshine and gorgeous light, Mona and Kris had a joyous wedding at Sassafras Springs Vineyard.  As they celebrated with their families and friends, it was plain to see how much they are both loved. From the meaningful pagan ceremony officiated by their long-time friend Lastacia, to the sentimental family heirlooms that each bride carried, Kris and Mona's connection to their heritage and those they hold dear was apparent to all in attendance.

Mona's mom crafted a Native American drinking vessel to be shared by the brides during their wedding ceremony to honor Mona's Native heritage. Kris chose to honor her Celtic heritage by incorporating the ancient ritual of handfasting. It is wonderful to see couples so deliberately choosing their means of commitment in such a deeply personal way.

Decorated with mismatched china, milk glass, and an antique tea service, Mona and Kris wanted their reception to be filled with whimsical, vintage-inspired details. Their friend Heather even created a unique wedding cake, with a tier featuring hand-painted sunflowers for the Kansas brides.

These ladies appreciate good food and great wine, so we took a little break after portraits for them to enjoy a few moments of rest and hors d'oeuvres in the Peacock Room before they made their grand entrance and joined their guests.
