There is something incredibly heartwarming about being around a couple who share so much in common. When a couple is truly connected and in love, my work is easy. Mona and Kris have that kind of bond, and it's plain to see how over-the-moon they are for one another.

Mona is a photographer and visual artist with a creative and free-spirited personality - right down to her ombre purple curls! Kris is an attorney with a heart for helping the less-fortunate and a love for social causes. They are both stunning, with a flair for fashion and a love for beautiful things, animals, and traveling together. I always feel so privileged when I get to photograph not only one bride-to-be, but two. Especially when they are this much fun!

Because both ladies are dedicated oenophiles and foodies, we met for their engagement session at Sassafras Springs Vineyard in Arkansas this past fall. As they enjoyed glasses of white wine and a charcuterie board, I snapped some lifestyle shots inside to begin our shoot. We moved to the  grounds of the vineyard afterwards, and they even brought their lovable Shih Tzu Chelsea along for their session. (Thanks to their friend Lastacia for being a great puppy-handler and so much help!)

We had gorgeous light, lots of laughs, and a wonderful time getting to know one another.

I'm excited to shoot their wedding this weekend at Sassafras Springs, so watch for their wedding story coming soon!

When Nicole and Blake met on New Year's Eve a few years ago, sparks flew almost immediately. The beautiful Mizzou all-star from Webb City, and the handsome guy with the curls from Wichita soon found that they couldn't bear to be apart.

Nicole's heart was set on celebrating her wedding day with her many friends, softball teammates, and family on New Year's Eve, complete with a midnight toast on the anniversary of the first time she and Blake met. It was amazing to ring in 2017 with this fabulous crew.

Here are some favorites from Nicole and Blake's most beautiful of days:

LeaAnn, Nicole's mom, did a bang-up job on the floral design and overall execution of the wedding day decor.

Nicole is a talented graphic designer when she isn't coaching softball at Wichita State. She designed and created all of her own printed decor as well as the invitation suite! Glittering Art Deco details were in abundance.

Each centerpiece featured a miniature clock set to midnight.

I was obsessed with this rendered book that sat by the entrance to the venue.

The stunning four-tiered wedding cake by The Cake Gal featured gold leaf and real flowers.

Makeup artist Leah Rush enhanced Nicole's beauty with her skills.

Nicole was determined to keep it simple and elegant on her wedding day, even though her mama kept trying vintage jewels on her. I love her expressions in these pictures!

Nicole and her dad are close, so she opted to have a first look with him before going to see her groom. You can see how much he loves his daughter.

Across the hall, Blake and his groomsmen finished getting ready.

Blake's reaction as the doors opened and he saw his bride for the first time that day was priceless.

As Nicole and Blake came back down the aisle, confetti rained down from their guests in the balconies. It was absolutely magical.

Nicole and Blake are excellent dancers. They looked marvelous during their first dance.

Nicole and her dad had rehearsed their father/daughter dance for months before the wedding. It was impressive!

As midnight approached, everyone donned their party hats and got ready to ring in 2017 with dancing and a champagne toast.

One of Nicole's favorite movies is "The Shining" (kindred spirits, I'm tellin' ya!) and she wanted to have a portrait inspired by the iconic group shot from the movie. The Gambrel Barn's balcony was a perfect vantage point to photograph everyone in the room right before the midnight toast.

What a beautiful way to end 2016 and a wonderful way to begin 2017.

Thank you, Blake and Nicole, for a most enchanting experience.
