There are some couples who speak to your heart in such a way that you bond with them from day one. When I met Jasmin and her mom, Michelle, at our first consultation, conversation flowed easily and our meeting ended with hugs all around. And when I met Nick a few months later at their rainy and cold engagement session (which still turned out awesome!) I could see how genuinely and deeply in love they were. Nick and Jasmin have the real thing. That kind of authenticity drives my work. It's what matters to me in my own life, and what I strive for when I create images for my clients.
Their wedding day was filled with so many moments of beauty and genuine emotion that I can honestly say I laughed and cried along with them. As Jasmin's mom helped her apply her makeup and dress that morning at their home, the tenderness and affection between them was apparent. There were lots of lingering hugs and spontaneous bouts of laughter as they prepared for the day ahead. Jasmin is close with her entire family, and has deep friendships with the ladies in her life. It was so inspiring to see the way they surrounded her with love, prayer, and happy thoughts all day long.
All of the details were so well-planned. Sandy with the Guesthouse Event Design and Rentals designs such gorgeous weddings.
As the ceremony began, and I turned to snap Nick as he stood at the end of the aisle, anxiously awaiting his first glimpse of his bride, I was surprised as tears clouded my viewfinder. I wiped them away quickly so that I could focus on Jasmin and her dad coming toward me. It felt like someone in my own family was getting married.
The ceremony was a true communion, with thoughtfully written vows and proclamations of love. Nick couldn't wait to kiss his bride, and after their recessional, I stole them away for a few private moments and post-ceremony portraits. It's so important to give couples time to themselves on the day of the wedding.
As the day wound to a close, and the music and dancing slowed to a sweet and sentimental pace, everyone lined up to send the newlyweds on their way for a sparkler exit. It was a bittersweet moment for all who attended, as the happy couple would be driving cross-country to make their new life together in Washington state the very next day. As the nurse and the sailor ran to make their escape, hand in hand, their smiles said everything that needed to be said.
People like this make my job not a job. People like this stay in my heart forever.
Thank you for having me in your life for these moments, Jasmin and Nick. Your day was everything.
